About Me
My name is Victoria Alberti, and I am 23 years old. I recently moved to Sacramento in July to continue my college education in the healthcare industry.
I grew up in the small town of Tulare, CA a few hours South of Sacramento in the Central Valley. My father works for Pixley Irrigation and the Lower Tule River District. My father and grandfather also ran a silage hauling company in the Central Valley for many years before that. My family has always inculcated important farming and agricultural ethics and ideals in my daily life. I grew up in the agricultural world. I was in 4-H, FFA, raised livestock on our ranch, and so much more. I have always had a deep love and passion for agriculture that continues to grow within me each and every day. I got involved volunteering for more and more different organizations that promoted agriculture and agricultural awareness as I continued learning about the agricultural industry. In 2014, I started a platform to promote agricultural awareness called Agricultural Awareness: Feeding America. As an agricultural advocate and future healthcare provider, I worked hard to raise money for schools and businesses in my community so they could become more sustainable and educate more people on a farm fresh healthy lifestyle. It was also important for me to work with these people in my community to educate others on the simple fact that the root of all nutritional value begins with agriculture. In 2015, I wanted to take my platform to a more national level. I decided to audition in a scholarship pageant and run to become Miss Central Valley 2015. With a lot of hard work and support from my community, I won! I received almost $8,000.00 in scholarship money during my year. I also spent the entire year traveling up and down California with my executive director, advocating for agriculture, and educating people on the importance of agriculture in their daily diet. I spoke at numerous events, attended meetings, networked, and met a lot of amazing people to help me reach even higher goals. I was also blessed enough to work with the International Agri-Center during my year, teaching classes and seminars on agricultural education and sustainability. In June of 2015, I competed at the Miss California pageant and, if I had won, would have received the chance to compete at Miss America in Atlantic City! Although I did not win the title of Miss California, I gained so much from the experience that I plan to run for another local title again this year in Sacramento County while I attend college here pursing my long-time dream to become a Nurse Practitioner. |
Why did I start Agricultural Awareness: Feeding America?
Growing up in the small farm town of Tulare, CA, I have always been exposed to the agricultural community and the importance it plays on not only our health but also our economy. I realized that even with all of the education regarding the importance agriculture gives us when making healthy choices in my community, their were still many struggling to live a healthy lifestyle and become educated. I am dedicated to help provide proper nutrition to children, teens, and adults by educating them on agricultural importance in their daily diet. I am committed to work to achieve excellence in all areas I strive to make a difference in. I will be working hard to provide meals, educate the importance of agriculture and nutrition, and always continue to revolutionize the statistics from one in five children starving to zero starving.
